瑞典是瑞典的中央银行。1656年成立。1661年开始发行钞票,是欧洲最早发行钞票的银行。1668年经改组成为瑞典国家银行,是世界上出现的第一家中央银行。主要职责是: 发行通货,制定货币与信贷政策,调节货币流通,同时还兼营商业银行业务。它直属国会,对国会及其所属的财政执行委员会及监察人负责,董事会与行长任免事项由国会批准,该行与英美金融资本关系密切,同纽约联邦储备银行订有互相透支3亿美元的协定。总行设在斯德哥尔摩,1984年末全国有24家分行。 [1]

Swedbank(formerly called FöreningsSparbanken) is a leading Nordic-Baltic banking group with 8.8 million retail customers and 441,000 corporatecustomers in Sweden, Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia. In Sweden, the group has more than 470 branches. In the Baltic countries, it has another 280 branches. Elsewhere, the group is present in Copenhagen, Helsinki, Kaliningrad, Luxembourg, Moscow, New York, Oslo, Shanghai, Saint Petersburg and Tokyo.
On September 8, 2006, FöreningsSparbanken AB changed its name to Swedbank AB. The name change took place in the afternoon local time, after the Swedish Companies Registration Office registers the changes in the company’s articles of association. On the same date the subsidiary AB Spintab changed its name to Swedbank Hypotek AB (Swedbank Mortgage AB in English). At the same time, FöreningsSparbanken Jordbrukskredit AB changed its name to Swedbank Jordbrukskredit AB. Other subsidiaries will change their names at later dates.

The first Swedish saving bank was founded in Gothenburg in 1820. In 1992 a number of local savings banks merged to create Sparbanken Sverige ("Savings Bank Sweden"), which was known simply as Sparbanken ("The Savings Bank"). In 1995 this bank was listed on the stock exchange. In 1997 the bank merged with Föreningsbanken and the names were combined to create FöreningsSparbanken.
